About LiveVault

The tapes are already there.
The path can be better.

LiveVault is an independent listening app for exploring Grateful Dead recordings hosted by the Internet Archive.

Why it exists

The live catalog is a gift: a sprawling collection of recordings, many versions of the same date, and decades of listener knowledge. It can also be hard to enter on a phone. LiveVault gives that listening ritual a purpose-built interface without pretending to own the music.

What release 1.2 brings together

LiveVault 1.2 puts two distinctive entry points near the center of the app. Live Guide gives each date one shared episode to follow. My Trip lets signed-in listeners see their listening history across shows, songs, years, venues, calendar coverage, and milestones.

A daily Guide, prepared before you listen

Release 1.2 includes Live Guide: one shared, pre-rendered episode for each date that alternates grounded narration and selected Archive-hosted recordings in a visible timeline. It is prepared before listening, not personalized or generated when the app opens, and requires sign-in and LiveVault Pro. No price is quoted here until verified store products are public.

The free Archive path stays open

Browsing and Archive-hosted streaming do not require an account. Listeners can still open Today in Dead, browse a curated 166-song catalog, inspect available recording-source metadata, play complete shows, and keep a saved position. Full-show offline downloads remain available on iPhone and iPad as a supporting option for the road.

The source and affiliation line

LiveVault streams files hosted by the Internet Archive’s Grateful Dead collection. LiveVault does not host, rip, remaster, or sell the recordings. It is not affiliated with Grateful Dead Productions, Rhino, nugs.net, or the Internet Archive.

Build in public, correct in public

Show data and source metadata can be messy. If something is wrong, send the specific date, song, or Archive identifier through LiveVault Support. For partnerships, press, or general feedback, use Contact.
